Where and When we can get an idea?
There are 4 places called 4Bs as below.
Bar
Bathroom
Bed
Bus
Let’s check one by one.
Bar
When I drink a beer or some alcohol, I feel relaxed.
If you relax at your favorite cafe when you drink a cup of coffee, the cafe is the best place for you to get an idea. You don’t need to go to a bar and don’t need to drink a beer 🙂 If you have a few pints of beer but don’t want to go to the bar, it’s okay. The important thing is to relax, not go to a bar.
When you drink with your friends or parents or colleagues, they may talk about an interesting story or they may ask you some questions. Those stories may be a good spice to input in your mind and may have some chemical reaction to get an idea. Also, those questions may be a good chance for you to think about something with a relaxed mind. So the interaction from others may create a chance to get a different output, which might be a good idea. Don’t drink too much!
Bathroom
Taking a shower in the bath or soaking in the bathtub is one of my favorite places to relax and rest.
After working hard in the office, exercising, or playing sports, I can cool down in the bathroom to relax the atmosphere and tension. That transition from tension to relaxation is a trigger to have an idea.
My father used to spend 20-30minute in the toilet every morning. It is a kind of routine for him and a toilet is a relaxed place for him. I don’t know if he gets an idea in a toilet.
Bed
I sometimes get an idea just before sleeping or just after getting up. During sleep, our brain is in a different mode. I don’t use the technical term but the transition from active mode to sleep mode may be a good trigger to get an idea.
Also, when I and my brain are tired, I can’t get a good idea. When I go to bed, my brain can relax and rest. And after a good night’s sleep, my brain is refreshed and ready to work actively. Sleep is needed to generate ideas. In other words, if you keep thinking overnight without sleeping, you won’t get an idea.
Bus
A bus is a way of commuting and visiting customers. In reality, it could be my car when I drive to my office or could a train or plane to visit a customer. As I wrote in Tips to create a good idea, an idea will come at the transition from tension to relaxation, or vice versa.
For example, on the way from home to the office, I listen to music and am fully relaxed, but when I get closer to the office, I think about my work and it gradually switches to work mode from relax mode. I frequently got an idea at such a timing.
Thank you for reading this post.
In summary, we need the place to
- Relax
- Rest
- Transition
