Do you remember your presentation when you were a 1st grader?
Here is a score sheet for the 1st grader’s presentation that my son used.
At that time I helped him to prepare his presentation to cover the following 4 points. Let’s go back to the basics.
Score sheet of 1st grader’s presentation
1. Content
2. Posture
3. Eye contact
4. Voice
Let’s check them one by one.
1. Content
He prepared the memo by filling in the blanks.
Hello Class,
My name is (___________).
Today I want to introduce my favorite (___________).
There are 3 reasons that I like this.
First, (_____________________________________________).
Second, (__________________________________________).
Finally, (__________________________________________).
Thank you for listening. Any questions?
2. Posture
1st graders are restless and always moving their hands and feet…
When he did the rehearsal, I pointed out his movements and improved his posture.
3. Eye contact
I advised him to look far away and make eye contact with as many friends as possible. And practice and practice and practice.
4. Voice
At first, his voice was quiet, so I advised him to make it louder.
How to memorize the memo
I usually had him memorize his memo instead of reading the memo.
If he read the memo, it was difficult to make many eye contacts.
In addition, reading the memo tends to be flat feeling and boring.
In order to memorize the memo, I advised him to read the memo aloud three times with his emotion.
I demonstrated how I did and let him do the same thing.
Sometimes he got stuck if he couldn’t remember the next word. I advised him to remember stories and important messages instead of remembering word for word. He didn’t change his way well but finally, he remembered it.
Thank you for reading this post.
